HBO announced today that it’s renewed Game of Thrones for a fifth and sixth season. This is the opposite of surprising. It is the anti–Red Wedding. 6.6 million people watched this past weekend’s 9 p.m. premiere, making it not only the show’s most popular episode but also the most popular single episode of any HBO series since The Sopranos finale. America loves Game of Thrones more than the Hound loves chicken, and that man loves chicken. But seriously, we’re going to need you to start finishing up those books now, George R. R. Martin.
