Earlier this month, NBC announced a new initiative called Comedy Playground, in which they’re taking open submissions for projects from aspiring comedy writers, and the network is now being sued for using that name. A Los Angeles comedy school that also goes by the name “Comedy Playground†filed a trademark suit this week in federal court. They’ve been using the registered name since 2002 and are seeking damages and profits plus a court order keeping NBC from using the name.
“The harm caused by NBC’s actions to Comedy Playground and its reputation is devastating and irreversible,†says the suit, which you can read in its entirety via Deadline.
