Showtime is developing a drama about the 1980s crack cocaine trade in Los Angeles, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show, called Snowfall, comes from John Singleton and writer Eric Amadio, and will be told through the eyes of three main characters: a black child from Compton, a Mexican wrestler, and a CIA agent embroiled in Iran-Contra. Singleton and Amadio will co-write the pilot together, and Singleton will direct. The show is apparently “in the vein of Boyz n the Hood meets The Wire,†so the first person to call it “gritty†owes everyone else a Coke.
