Today was May the 4th, a.k.a Star Wars Day, and many people took to the internet to celebrate the year’s foremost pun-based holiday. Disney released a trailer for the new animated series Star Wars Rebels; prequel star Samuel L. Jackson shared a lightsaber selfie (and made excellent use of the phrase “MUPHUGHGAAAHZ!!!!â€), while Mark Hamill tweeted in recognition of the “best phony holiday besides April Fools†and expressed thanks to those supporting his return, joking, “hope I don’t get typecast.â€
Meanwhile, over in London, J.J. Abrams and co-writer Lawrence Kasdan joined in the festivities by sharing a brief “video selfie†with fans. While the 24-second video was hardly spoiler-filled, Abrams did suggest that casting announcements would “continue†to roll out. Could this vague use of the present tense mean that another major female role is going to be announced? Watch the video and speculate away.
