Showtime is making a show about an aspiring comedian. Deadline reports that the pay cable network is developing a series called Yank, which comes from Sex and the City writers Elisa Zuritsky and Julie Rottenberg and follows a young man from an ultra-orthodox Jewish community in Williamsburg, New York, who decides to start pursuing a career in standup comedy. The guy starts leading a double life and venturing out of his sheltered corner of New York to explore the big city around him for the first time. If Yank gets picked up, it’d join Louie, Maron, and Mulaney to become the fourth show on the air about a standup comedian, albeit a fictional one unlike those other shows.
