It seems so long ago at this point, but Roseanne Barr did run for President of the United States in 2012 and apparently, somebody filmed a documentary about her campaign. THR reports today that longtime Michael Moore collaborator Eric Weinrib made a documentary called Roseanne for President!, which gives a behind-the-scenes look at Barr’s campaign. A year and a half after the election, the movie is currently in post-production and is expected to be finished sometime this year.
Roseanne for President! “followed Barr’s gonzo campaign from its inception and gained access to her home, friends and family … [and] aims to illuminate how the system works by highlighting how it doesn’t and poking fun at big-party politics along the way.†Barr announced her campaign on The Tonight Show in the summer of 2011, lost the Green Party’s nomination but won the Peace and Freedom Party’s, and wound up on the ballot in three states (California, Colorado and Florida), earning over 65,000 votes and placing sixth in the national popular vote.
