It’s been over a year and a half since AMC announced that they were working on a Colonial Boston-themed comedy pilot by Whitney writer/producers Adrian Wenner and Ethan Sandler called We Hate Paul Revere, but today The Wrap reports that the network has finally signed on a star to play the titular role. Office Space’s Ron Livingston has officially been cast to play Paul Revere in the show, while SNL, Funny or Die, and The Spoils of Babylon’s Matt Piedmont will direct. Director/producer Troy Miller – who has worked on Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, Parks and Rec, and The Office – will also work as a non-writing executive producer.
We Hate Paul Revere is just another example of AMC’s recent venture into comedy. The Bob Odenkirk-starring Breaking Bad spinoff Better Call Saul (which already has a second season order) is slated to premiere in early 2015, while the network is still considering pilots from Wyatt Cenac, Seth Rogen, and Kevin Smith.
