Bill Murray Likes the Idea of a Female ‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot

While promoting his new movie St. Vincent at the Toronto International Film Festival over the weekend, Bill Murray was asked by several reporters about the recent news of a possible Paul Feig-directed all-female Ghostbusters reboot and responded with resounding approval. Here’s what he had to say when asked about the idea by Access Hollywood’s Scott Mantz:

“It sounds great to me. It sounds as good an idea as any other! There are a lot of women that could scare off any kind of vapor! No, it’s a grand idea, I don’t know who they’re talking about, but it’s a good idea, I would watch it! I mean, I love Robert Palmer’s videos, so why wouldn’t I love the female Ghostbusters?â€

Murray expanded on his thoughts in another interview with the Toronto Star, saying “I would go to that movie, and they’d probably have better outfits, too.†He also offered up some suggestions for the main cast: “Melissa [McCarthy] would be a spectacular Ghostbuster. And Kristen Wiig is so funny – God, she’s funny! I like this girl Linda Cardellini a lot. And Emma Stone is funny. There are some funny girls out there.†Hopefully if the female Ghostbusters reboot gets made, those Massachusetts middle schoolers who made the gender-swapped shot-for-shot Ghostbusters trailer remake over the summer will get a cut of the profits for their (now Venkman-approved) idea.
