Paul Thomas Anderson won’t say it, but everyone else will: Thomas Pynchon will make a cameo in PTA’s upcoming Inherent Vice adaptation. “He came on as the kind of mercurial iconoclast he is,†Josh Brolin, who plays macho LAPD detective Bigfoot Bjornssen in the film, tells the New York Times. “He stayed in the corner.†This, of course, sets up its own Pynchonian paradox: If nobody knows what you look like, does it count as a cameo?
