Mark Wahlberg Stars in the Trailer for Oscar Dark Horse The Gambler

Congratulations, The Gambler, you’re the 1,000th movie to use “Gimme Shelter� in a trailer! Tell them what they win: A chance to appear both action-packed and for grown-ups! That aside, this movie looks very good and serious and adult. Directed by Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes), Mark Wahlberg stars as a — you guessed it — gambler, who gets in over his head with some people you don’t want to be in over your head with. Speaking of heads, John Goodman is bald! Brie Larson, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Jessica Lange co-star. The film opens on December 19 — sounds like a studio is gambling on getting some nominations. Hopefully, if it doesn’t win them, they don’t chop off Wahlberg’s thumbs, because he sure seems like a guy who gives a thumbs-up a lot.
