AMC has ordered the pilot for a TV series based on Garth Ennis and Steve Dillon’s hit 1990s comic-book franchise Preacher. Breaking Bad scribe Sam Catlin wrote it, and funny-fueled creative duo Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are attached to direct and help produce the project. “Preacher has been our favorite comic since it first came out,†Rogen and Goldberg said in a statement. “Garth Ennis is one of our idols and it’s an incredible honor to be working on this. We promise we won’t make too many dick jokes and ruin it.†(Why hold back, guys?) Adhering to the violent, gratuitous, and hilarious comics, the series would follow small-town preacher Jesse Custer — who gains the supernatural ability to command anyone to do what he wants — as he hits the road to find God, with his ex-girlfriend and a vampire. The pilot will be produced next summer, and the series will be considered in 2016; in other words, you have a lot of time to read the comics.
