BAFTA Nominations Find Brits Torn Between Their Love of Wes Anderson and Stephen Hawking

Terribly sorry, terribly sorry, but if it’s not too much bother, the BAFTA nominations are here. The big news is that the Brits love Wes Anderson’s particular brand of deadpan whimsy, as The Grand Budapest Hotel scored 11 nods, the most of any film. Following immediately behind was The Theory of Everything, the result of Stephen Hawking’s lifelong experiment to create the perfect BAFTA film, which earned ten. Just like at the Producer’s Guild Awards, Unbroken and Selma were snubbed; in a very British twist, their spots were filled (at least in spirit) by Paddington, which earned two nominations.
