Late Show With Stephen Colbert will premiere Tuesday, September 8, CBS announced today. That might seem like a ways away, but time flies when you’re taking over for an icon of American comedy. For those building timelines, David Letterman announced his retirement on April 3 of last year, and Colbert was named as his successor a week later; the Report wrapped up on December 18, 2014; and Letterman’s last show will air Wednesday, May 20, 2015. Presumably, we’ll spend the summer between Letterman’s farewell and Colbert’s debut in utter spiritual turmoil.
