At this morning’s Oscar nominations, Academy president Cheryl Boone Isaacs infamously called Mr. Turner cinematographer Dick Pope “Dick Poop.†Now, making the media rounds for his well-deserved nomination, Pope brushes off his brief moment of viral fame. “I’ve been called a lot worse,†Pope told USA Today, adding that he “felt sorry for the lady who made the mispronunciation.†Upon being informed by the L.A. Times that his mangled name had become a trending Twitter topic, Pope had some harsh words for the internet’s general way of life: “If that’s what people talk to each about on [Twitter], I would never be on it.
