Rooney Mara (Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) and Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black) are testing for the lead role in the first of two upcoming Star Wars spinoffs, The Hollywood Reporter writes. The two actresses are on a want list for a project, to be directed by Gareth Edwards, that could also include Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything). Edwards’s film has a December 16, 2016, release date; it’s currently in need of screenwriters. There’s also another spinoff, with Josh Trank at the helm, in the works. Obviously details are scarce, so get ready for months and months of teeny-tiny reveals and more teaser trailer overanalysis.
