‘Black-ish’ Creator Kenya Barris Is Writing a ‘Good Times’ Movie for Sony

Norman Lear’s classic ‘70s sitcom Good Times is getting the big screen treatment. According to Deadline, Black-ish creator Kenya Barris has signed on to write a feature film adaptation of the sitcom, which centers on an African-American family in the Chicago projects in the ‘60s, for Sony. The studio originally tried to adapt the movie in 2013 with Wreck-It-Ralph’s Phil Johnson and Scott Rudin signed on to produce. Rudin is still attached to the project with The Newsroom producer Eli Bush. The original Good Times ran on CBS from 1974-1979.
