It’s been less than a month since Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2 premiered in theaters, but Rotten Tomatoes’ favorite 0% (well, now 6%) star has another big movie role lined up. Deadline reports that James has signed on to star in The True Memoirs of an International Assassin, which will center on him as “a mild-mannered accountant and would-be author who gets mistaken for a killer-for-hire when his fictional novel about an international assassin is published as a true story. He heads to Belize to escape his sudden celebrity, but gets entangled in an assassination plot. Thrown into a world of real danger, he must find a way to channel his lead character Colt Rodgers and save the day.†Kick-Ass 2’s Jeff Wadlow will direct the film written by Jeff Morris, who also wrote last year’s Lifetime movie Grumpy Cat’s Worst Christmas Ever. Producers Todd Garner and Kevin Frakes offered some steep promises that the film will “show a side of Kevin that hasn’t yet been seen†and that they can’t wait to “let the world see the bad-ass he truly is.â€
In addition to The True Memoirs of an International Assassin, James also has a development deal with Sony Pictures Television that includes a sitcom he will star in and executive produce.
