TV’s remake boom continued unabated today, as ABC announced that it had picked up its reboot of the 1989 John Candy comedy Uncle Buck. The series will star Mike Epps as the titular Uncle Buck, “a fun loving but irresponsible guy who needs a job and a place to stay,†and finds both when he becomes a full-time babysitter for his nieces and nephew. Nia Long and Las Vegas’s James Lesure co-star as Buck’s brother and sister-in-law. Judging from the show’s lighthearted press photo, the series is unlikely to feature a scene where Buck threatens his niece’s boyfriend with a hatchet.
