The Harry Potter play that J.K. Rowling was producing has its destination and title. Called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the prequel project will debut in 2016 at the Palace Theatre on London’s West End (and then hopefully here afterward, but maybe that’s just wishful thinking), according to Entertainment Weekly. English TV scribe Jack Thorne has written the play, and John Tiffany is set to direct. When news of the play first broke, we were promised a look at Harry’s early years before Hogwarts and the snake-talking, when he was getting well acquainted with broom closets and life as an outcast. The Daily Mail adds, however, that Cursed Child might also explain what happened to Harry’s parents, Lily and James, before they were slain by you-know-who. And there are also rumblings of tidbits involving Lily and Petunia, Severus Snape, and Remus Lupin. In other words, yes, it sounds like it’s still on track to be pretty depressing.
