Inside Out, the hotly anticipated new film from Pixar, has earned considerable early praise. To put it succinctly, it’s making people cry. The film is set in a world in which people are controlled by their emotions — literally, their emotions manifest as anthropomorphic characters. The main character is Riley, whose emotions are portrayed by Amy Poehler (Joy), Bill Hader (Fear), Mindy Kaling (Disgust), and Lewis Black (Anger, of course). Riley also has a mom, voiced by Diane Lane.
The first trailer focused more on Riley’s parents and their own Starfleet-style emotional commanders. Now we have a new clip from Inside Out, which shows off the gorgeous animation — check out the individual strands of hair on the characters! — and the gabbling relationship between the different emotions, who are aptly colorful and fun-shaped. Inside Out was directed by Pete Docter, who also helmed Monsters, Inc. and Up, one of the sweetest and saddest movie depictions of love, ever.
