In presidential casting news that is only slightly less bizarre than everything in The Butler, Rob Reiner announced today that none other than Woody Harrelson would be playing the lead role in LBJ, his upcoming biopic of the 36th president of the United States. The true detective will be following in the footsteps of Bryan Cranston (who won a Tony for playing Johnson in All the Way), Tom Wilkinson (who earned Oscar buzz for his role as LBJ in Selma), and Liev Schreiber (the aforementioned bizarre Butler casting choice). Unlike those efforts, Reiner’s LBJ will be a career-spanning look at Johnson’s rise from master of the Senate to civil-rights pioneer. We think we speak for everyone when we say we can’t wait to see the scene where Harrelson’s LBJ orders pants:
