Last year, after Taylor Swift announced that her 1989 World Tour would hit Houston’s Minute Maid Park on October 13, the Houston Astros baseball team tweeted that the show could be rescheduled if it conflicted with a potential playoff game. At the time, many mocked the Astros for wishful thinking. After all, they’d been one of baseball’s worst teams in recent years, and had finished 28 games out of first place in 2014.
But the club is getting the last laugh: After a surprisingly good start to the season, the Astros currently lead the American League Wild Card race. Since postseason baseball in Houston is a very real possibility, the Swift concert has been rescheduled for September 9. The Astros are on the road that day; feel free to craft your own joke about Swift finding a blank space on the Minute Maid Park schedule.
