What were medieval times if not unrelenting death and torture with some moral ambiguity? The first trailer for Kurt Sutter’s The Bastard Executioner aired Sunday night on FX during the season-two premiere of The Strain, and we get a first glimpse of newcomer Lee Jones as the titular grim reaper, as well as Kurt Sutter stalwart (and wife) Katey Sagal rocking a new look. No sign of Sutter’s own Dark Mute character, but as he told the crowd at San Diego Comic-Con, he’d be in “full prosthetic makeup,†so we wouldn’t be able to recognize him anyway. The show debuts in September.
