Deadline reports that Warner Bros. has optioned the rights of Ross Macdonald’s 1966 crime novel Black Money for the Coen brothers to write the script with an aim to direct. (Though it is unclear if this will be their next project following the upcoming Hail, Caesar!) The novel follows Lew Archer, Macdonald’s running PI, as he is hired to look into a “suspiciously suave Frenchman†who has run away with his client’s girlfriend. Would it be a little too on the nose to cast Olivier Martinez?
