In a recent interview with BET, Anthony Mackie promotes his upcoming film Our Brand Is Crisis by stating that if he could run one presidential campaign, it would be Donald Trump’s. “He’s an easy sell. He’s the guy that worked himself up from nothing. I think that if you’re a pull-yourself-up-from-your-bootstraps candidate, people identify with that,†Mackie says, unaware that Donald Trump actually inherited his father’s real-estate company, Elizabeth Trump & Son, in 1971. When asked if he’s endorsing Trump, Mackie gleefully adds, “I’m drinking the Kool-Aid.†That’s a good way of putting it, because Trump is also a red-faced shill who is always bursting into rooms shouting.
Update: Mackie, as he tends to do post-interviews, claims he was misunderstood. It was all just a joke! But what about to completely false notion that Trump is a “pull-yourself-up-from-your-bootstraps candidate?†Mackie, what’s good?
