It’s official! Fox has ordered Gina Prince-Bythewood’s event series Shots Fired starring Sanaa Lathan. The two are reuniting after the magic from Prince-Bythewood’s beloved 2000 debut Love & Basketball, although this series will likely be light on both: Lathan plays an investigator from the Department of Justice looking into a shooting of a white teen by black cops in a small town in Tennessee that triggers racial unrest. Prince-Bythewood’s series has long been in development at Fox, and she wrote the script and is executive-producing it with her husband, Reggie Rock Bythewood. The event series will debut in 2016.
