Though they may be consciously uncoupled, Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow are still musically married. In fact, Martin has revealed that he gave his ex-wife a spot on Coldplay’s new album. Gwen, who you may remember sang a bunch of times on Glee, has some vocals on a song called “Everglow,†which is apparently a “ballad about a relationship’s enduring spark.†That spark being their two kids, probably. Martin actually made the whole album a family affair, putting his children as well as other family members and friends to work as part of a “choir†on some songs; even his girlfriend, Annabelle Wallis, makes an appearance. “Everyone who got asked to sing on our album has an important part in our lives,†he tells The Wall Street Journal. “I don’t want to get too hippie, but what I’m trying to learn in my life is the value of every human.â€
His song with Gwenyth sadly isn’t titled “Consciously Uncouple,†because, Martin alleges, “I didn’t invent that phrase, but I love it. Everything’s a good lyric if you have the right beat.†Sure, Chris. But let’s not ignore the album’s biggest surprise appearance: No, not Beyoncé. Blue Ivy! She’ll again get to flex her genetic vocal skills (remember that time she adorably cooed all over a Jay Z track?) on a Coldplay song, like you always dreaded she one day would.
