Straight Outta Compton Named 2015’s Best Film by African-American Film Critics Association

The African-American Film Critics Association has announced its picks for 2015’s best in film and TV, giving Straight Outta Compton top honors. The N.W.A biopic took Best Picture, Best Ensemble, and Best Supporting Actor for Jason Mitchell’s portrayal of Eazy-E. The AAFCA named Ryan Coogler Best Director for Creed; Tessa Thompson won Best Supporting Actress and Michael B. Jordan was given Breakout Performance. Will Smith won Best Actor for Concussion and Teyonah Parris won Best Actress for Spike Lee’s Chi-Raq, which was also named Best Independent Film. Black-ish and How to Get Away With Murder picked up Best TV Comedy and Drama, respectively. Here’s the full list of the 2015 AAFCA Awards winners:
