Joining in the TV musical trend, ABC will be taking on Dirty Dancing as a taped TV movie starring Scream Queens’ Abigail Breslin as Baby. NBC has had hits with their live musicals Peter Pan, The Sound of Music, and The Wiz, and ABC is like, “we’re no slouch.†We already know Abigail Breslin has moves, but no word yet on who will take on the iconic Patrick Swayze roll, or whether Jerry Orbach’s character will be played by someone in New York City who inherited his eyes. The only downside to the musical being taped: We’ll have no idea how many times Johnny drops Baby while lifting her over his head in the final scene. Dear ABC, we request bloopers.
