What does the MCU look like now that it has Benedict Cumberbatch? Well, as EW’s first look at Doctor Strange suggests, quite scruffy and rather spellbinding, literally. “It was like, okay, I’ve got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I’m thinking, there’s going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there,†Cumberbatch tells EW, having tried on the sorcerer’s cloak for one of the first times during this photo shoot. (Doctor Strange just began filming last month.) And he was adorably self-conscious about the big reveal. Let the battle of the pale magicians commence!
