Comedian and SNL alum Norm Macdonald is writing a memoir. Deadline reports that Macdonald has signed a deal with Random House to publish a memoir called Based on a True Story, in which Macdonald will detail “his origins in a rural Canadian town to an epically disastrous appearance on Star Search to his possibly apocryphal account of auditioning for SNL producer Lorne Michaels and his memorable run as Weekend Update anchor.†Said Macdonald on the project: “If you like a good old-fashioned tell-all bombshell about sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll, and if you like an unflinching account of how the dirty little business of big-time comedy works, then you will love Based on a True Story. OK, one time I do flinch. But only once. The rest of time, unflinching. Also, there will be no mention of rock’n’roll. I was lying.†The book will be available sometime next year.
