Caitlyn Jenner’s well-choreographed transformation into the most famous trans woman in America hits another milestone: the memoir. The New York Times reports that Jenner is writing a memoir with Pulitzer Prize–winning journalist Buzz Bissinger, author of the beloved nonfiction book Friday Night Lights. Bissinger also wrote the Vanity Fair cover story where Jenner publicly came out as a trans woman, and came to bond with her through his own non-normative gender practices. “I’ve also been open about cross-dressing and certain aspects of gender fluidity, and that created a bond,†said Bissinger. While the publisher, Grand Central Publishing, won’t disclose the figures, industry executives are speculating the number is a “high seven-figure or low eight-figure sum.†Bissinger plans to cover Jenner’s entire life thus far, including interviews with other people, from her childhood as Bruce Jenner to her rise as an Olympic athlete and then reality-television star. The book is tentatively scheduled for the spring of 2017.
