In news that may exist only for us to make A League of Their Own jokes, Fox is making a drama series about a female baseball player. The project comes from producer Dan Fogelman (Grandfathered; Crazy, Stupid, Love.) and Rick Singer (Younger). It stars Kylie Bunbury (Under the Dome, ABC Family’s Twisted) as a “young female pitcher who defies the odds when she becomes the first woman to play in the major leagues,†according to The Hollywood Reporter. Fox has put in a pilot order — basically a commitment to air the pilot with a significant chance of a series pickup — for the drama, which is titled Pitch. Here’s to hoping Tom Hanks does a guest arc.
