Welcome to The Second City Archives, in which we post an exclusive clip each week of some of comedy’s biggest superstars performing early in their careers on the legendary Chicago stage. Second City has generously given us a glimpse into their extensive archive of live performances, and over the coming weeks we’ll be sharing some rare and retro comedy never before seen on the web.
This week’s clip is from Second City’s 1998 ETC revue If the White House is a Rockin, Don’t Come A-Knockin’ featuring ensemble performers Craig Cackowski, Matt Dwyer, Kristin Ford, Tami Sagher, Horatio Sanz, and Rebecca Sohn. In the above scene, Cackowski plays a TV reporter who interviews two local used car dealers (played by Sanz and Dwyer) who witnessed an airplane accident, but they seem more interested in selling cars than they do describing the horrible incident to the news: “This is a terrible tragedy to be occurring here during Value Days.â€
