Homer Simpson will go live in a three-minute segment during an episode of The Simpsons this May. Live animation? What is this, witchcraft? No, no, it’s something called “motion-capture technology,†which, as far as we’re concerned, may as well be witchcraft. Fox announced Monday that Homer Simpson will be discussing topical subjects and responding to fan questions (such as, “How is this happening?†and “Are you as scared as I am?â€). Dan Castellaneta (Homie’s voice) will be improvising his answers as he talks about things he “could only be saying live on that day,†showrunner Al Jean told THR. “As far as I know, this is the first time that’s been done by any animated show,†Jean said. They should have saved this for a “Treehouse of Horror†episode, because this sounds spooky! Welcome to 2016!Â
