A Painting of Kevin Spacey As House of Cards’ Francis J. Underwood Now Sits in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery

President Underwood.

Frank Underwood, the murderous, Machiavellian president from House of Cards, now has his own portrait in the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery, the only other place that has a complete collection of presidential portraiture outside of the White House. The painting, unveiled Monday with Kevin Spacey and Netflix head honcho Ted Sarandos, is a project between the British artist Jonathan Yeo and the museum. “I’m pleased that the Smithsonian continues to prove itself as a worthwhile institution,†Underwood said in a statement through Netflix. “I’m one step closer to convincing the rest of the country that I am the President.â€
