Emma Stone and Jonah Hill are nearing deals to star in the dark comedy series Maniac, with Cary Fukunaga directing. Per Deadline, Maniac is based on a 2014 Norwegian series about a man who escapes into his own dreamworld while institutionalized (so it is basically that episode of Buffy, but funny). Coming from Paramount TV and Anonymous Content, the half-hour series is likely seeking a two-season order. So, sorry. You may have thought that the Manic Pixie Dream Girl was dying, but she will live on in a super-literal way in your (Jonah Hill’s) dreams.
