Like a horde of monkeys with typewriters, The Simpsons has produced enough material to predict the best and blurst of times for America, so it’s not too much of a surprise that the show once had an episode, “Bart to the Future,â€Â where Lisa takes the reigns in the Oval Office after a disastrous Trump presidency (see 2:21 in the video below). But much like the writer of Idiocracy, the writer credited in the episode, Dan Greaney, isn’t too proud of the seemingly accurate prediction. “It was a warning to America,†Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter, “What we needed was for Lisa to have problems that were beyond her fixing, that everything went as bad as it possibly could, and that’s why we had Trump be president before her.†Greaney also doesn’t remember who came up with the Trump joke in the writers’ room, which means a time-traveling Trump supporter could have planted the idea to kickstart his rise, in an orange-y blend of Inception and Terminator.
