In a cliffhanger of soap-operatic proportions, glitzy drama Nashville will be headed up by a pair of famed writers — but only if ABC renews the show for a fifth season. According to TVLine, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick, who created the classic drama Thirtysomething and produced the legendary My So-Called Life, have been picked to replace current showrunner Dee Johnson. This will all only happen, however, if the network, which is operating under a new president and has already renewed 15 shows for its next season, decides to order more of the country soap. Luckily, Connie Britton can pull off meaty relationship drama and, more important, help make overalls and oversize plaid a thing again.
