Tyler Perry has joined the chorus of industry voices condemning the anti-gay bill in Georgia that threatens to condone faith-based group discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. “At Tyler Perry Studios, we believe in inclusion and equality for all people,†said a spokesperson for the studio, adding, “We do not tolerate bigotry, division, and discrimination.†Unlike Disney and Marvel, Tyler Perry Studios did not go so far as to threaten to boycott, instead saying that, “We have tremendous confidence in Governor Deal’s leadership and ability to continue to lead our great state forward and urge him to veto this bill.†Running something of a mini-production-empire out of Atlanta, with ongoing plans to expand, Perry is one of the final major forces in George’s film and television industry to speak out. Governor Deal has until May 3 to sign, or veto, the bill.
