At the beginning of (and during) every month, Showtime adds new movies and TV shows to its library. We figure you might want to know about them. For more comprehensive coverage of the best titles available on Showtime and elsewhere, check out Vulture’s What to Stream Now hub, which is updated throughout the month.
Phone Home: E.T. The Extra Terrestrial (1982)
Hollywood is full of Spielberg imitators and rebooters today, but like margarine to butter, there’s no matching the real thing. E.T. still captures that childlike the sense that the universe is full of mysterious and terrifying things, but still capable of good. Available April 1.
Dice, dice baby: Dice (Season 1)
Andrew Dice (get it?) Clay stars in a semi-autobiographical show about a comedian who moves to Las Vegas, where people gamble with dice (get it?). The key thing is, if you want a lot of puns about the word dice, you have rolled into the right place. Premieres April 10.
Ultraviolence: From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)
Remember when Quentin Tarantino wanted to be a lead actor? And when he starred in a Robert Rodriguez movie across from a tatted-up George Clooney? And there were vampires? The ’90s were such a blissful, innocent time. Available April 1.
Ergo: It Follows (2015)
A figure follows its victims at a distance, passed from character to character like an STD in 2015’s breakout indie horror film. “My whole life I’ve been a horror-movie freak,†Vulture’s David Edelstein wrote, “and I’ve rarely been as scared as I was at It Follows.†Available April 23.
