Judd Apatow, Sarah Silverman, Kevin Nealon, and More Remember Garry Shandling

It’s been a month since Garry Shandling died at his home in Los Angeles, and while there have been many tributes to him over the past few weeks, last night Judd Apatow produced and hosted a packed memorial for him at the Wilshire Ebell Theater in Los Angeles. According to The New York Times, Kevin Nealon, Jeffrey Tambor, Sarah Silverman, Conan O’Brien, Bob Odenkirk, Billy Crystal, Ray Romano, Albert Brooks, and Adam Sandler were among the huge list of friends and collaborators who showed up to pay tribute to Shandling:

Many in the audience lingered at a cocktail party after the memorial, exchanging hugs and tales. Mr. O’Brien, the comedian and television host, chatted with Senator Al Franken. The actor David Arquette showed off a marionette of Mr. Shandling that he had made. The comedian and actor Demetri Martin said he had been working with Mr. Shandling on a new HBO series. “It was wonderfully funny and reverent and beautiful at the same time,†Mr. Crystal said of the memorial. “But the bottom line is, the guy’s gone, and you’re just left with the sad.â€

Judd Apatow also posted a photo on Instagram of some advice Shandling wrote to himself as a young comedian back in 1982. Check it out below:
