ABC Drops Agent Carter, Picks Up Conviction

After two seasons of working with Agent Carter, ABC has decided to can the Marvel show and move Hayley Atwell to the freshly ordered Conviction. The star next plays Hayes Morrison, who, according to the network, is a lawyer and former First Daughter “about to accept a job offered from her sexy nemesis, NY District Attorney Wayne Wallis (Eddie Cahill), to avoid jail time for cocaine possession and avoid hurting her mother’s Senate campaign.” The job entails working at a Conviction Integrity Unit, where Hayes will, in an effort to fight for her own redemption, try to overturn wrongful convictions. The series, which probably didn’t have a runner-up title, comes from Liz Friedman (Jessica Jones) and Liz Friedlander (The Following); Mark Gordon (Criminal Minds) will EP. Here’s a first look:
