Break out your saddest country ballads: Nashville is officially canceled. Though it was not among ABC’s set of early renewals, there seemed to be hope for Nashville when Lionsgate TV hired Thirtysomething and My So-Called Life veterans Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick as showrunners for the potential fifth season, but like so many soap-opera twists, that gambit did not come to fruition. Still, we can hope the show will go out with a bang on its May 25 finale, or at least one last melancholy rendition of “Fade Into You.â€
