Weeks after suffering a serious accident on the set of the latest Maze Runner film, Dylan O’Brien is apparently well enough to act again in the near future: THR reports that he’s close to signing on to star in American Assassin, an origin story for author Vince Flynn’s CIA agent hero, Mitch Rapp. (Back in 2012, Chris Hemsworth was considered for the role.) If he joins the film, O’Brien would star alongside Michael Keaton, who’s set to play Rapp’s mentor, Stan Hurley, with Kill the Messenger’s Michael Cuesta directing. Production for Maze Runner: The Death Cure has been delayed to give the actor more time to recover; it’s unclear when shooting on that film will begin again.
