Last year, Jesse Eisenberg began adapting his McSweeney’s short story collection Bream Gives Me Hiccups as a TV series, and now the project has a cast and director. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Parker Posey, Victor Rasuk, and newcomer Elliott Smith will star in the series, which will be produced by Jax Media (Inside Amy Schumer, Broad City, Difficult People) and film in New York this month. The series follows “a quietly observant child, Oscar (Smith), as he copes with the dramatics of his recently divorced mother (Posey). He spends his lunches in the janitor’s (Rasuk) closet at school writing thoughtful reviews of each restaurant his mom dragged him to the night before. He treats the reviews as a diary, documenting his complex relationship with his mother as they both ‘grow up’ in the wake of a divorce.†In addition to writing and producing, Eisenberg will also make his TV directing debut with the project.
