HBO’s small, earnest, and unjustly canceled series about gay men in San Francisco is finally getting some closure: Looking: The Movie will air on HBO from 10 to 11:30 p.m., on Saturday, July 23. Written by Andrew Haigh and Michael Lannan, and directed by Haigh, the wrap-up film seems to be less of a continuation of the series, and more of an epilogue, per HBO’s synopsis: “Patrick (Jonathan Groff) returns to the city for the first time in almost a year to celebrate a momentous event with his old friends. In the process, he must face the unresolved relationships he left behind and make difficult choices about what’s important to him.†Will there be sex? Yes, lots. Will there be piri piri chicken? We can only hope.
