Actor Michael Jace has been convicted of second-degree murder in the 2014 death of his wife April, the Associated Press reports. Prosecutors said the actor shot his wife three times — once in the back and twice in the legs — because he was convinced she was about to leave him for another man. According to the testimony of the couple’s 10-year-old son, Jace told his wife, a runner, “If you like running, then run to heaven†between gunshots. The defense had argued that the actor acted in the heat of passion and should have been convicted of voluntary manslaughter. Jace, who played Det. Julien Lowe in the cop drama The Shield, faces a sentence of 40 years to life.
