Led Zeppelin isn’t the only music lawsuit news transpiring this week. Brandon Parrott, a producer, is suing 50 Cent and Dr. Dre for intentionally using the beat of his song “BAMBA†for “P.I.M.P.†— a popular track from 50 Cent’s 2003 debut album Get Rich Or Die Trying — without his permission. Parrott claims that in 2001 he sent 10 tracks to Dr. Dre’s Aftermath Entertainment record label, including “BAMBA,†and was contacted two years later by one of Dr. Dre’s producers saying that parts of “BAMBA†were mistakenly used in a track. A settlement deal was struck up and signed at the time because Parrott believed it was an honest mistake, but now he’s backtracking due to recently discovering new interviews and information that make it “clear†he was taken advantage of by the label. He is seeking more compensation as a result. Neither 50 Cent nor Dr. Dre have responded to the lawsuit.
