David Letterman Tells Tom Brokaw He ‘Couldn’t Care Less’ About Late Night Television

Here’s a sneak peek from Sunday’s episode of On Assignment, where David Letterman chats with Tom Brokaw in his first television interview since leaving his longtime post at Late Show. Letterman says he assumed he’d miss his job after he left, but that turned out to not be the case: “I thought for sure I would, and then the first day of Stephen’s show, when he went on the air, an energy left me and I felt like ‘You know, that’s not my problem anymore.’ And I’ve kind of felt that way ever since.†He also shared some thoughts on CBS choosing a man instead of a woman to succeed him: “There should be more women, and I don’t know why they didn’t give my show to a woman. That would have been fine.†Watch the rest when the interview airs on NBC this Sunday at 7:00pm.
